On Vis island and the surrounding islets there are 12 special island plants. There is also a series of endemic lizards, bugs and algae, which are nowhere to be found on the land. Preserved nature is today the highest value and rarity of the Mediterranean tourism and this is the strongest tourist advantage of the island of Vis, whom the World organisation for the environmental protection put on the list of the 10 best preserved islands on the Mediterranean. The aquatorium of Komiza is known for the wealthy of blue fish: the islet Jabuka is famous for the richest fishing-grounds of tunny, and all the island of the archipelago of Vis are famous for the catch of big crabs (lobster) and excellent white fish.
