The island of Vis is connected through the ferry ports of Split, Milna a ond the island of Brac and town Hvar. It is important to note that tickets for ferry service from year 2015. can also be booked in advance. You can also purchase ferry the ticket on spot, when you arrive with your car to the ferry port. You should put the car in the waiting line, and purchase the ticket. Catamaran tickets also can be bought in advance by contacting "Jadrolinija" or "Krilojet". Generally, there is always enough place on the car ferry, and if there are too many cars, additional ferry lines are introduced. The most crowded days are Saturdays in the high season, when you can expect lots of car passengers and other days are not too crowded. It takes approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes to cross 33 nautical miles of distance between Vis and Split, of course if the weather conditions are good. Thus it is always good to check the weather forecast for the island of Vis.
During your journey from Split to Vis you will pass by several Croatian islands like Ciovo, Brac, Solta and Hvar. This is excellent opportunity for sightseeing and taking photos, and even though the ferries have air-conditioned salons, we suggest that you spend you trip on the deck, enjoying your trip to the maximum. Upon the arrival of the ferry to the town of Vis, there will be lots of local people that offer transfers across the islands, or you can use the public bus from the town of Vis to Komiza which departs upon the arrival of the ferry.
